i really like the new textbook! I think it describes the properties very well, and shows good examples. I am excited to use them this year!

ANSWER:
To check your work for problems in lessons 1-7, you must go to the selected answers on pages S2-S25. Although, the textbook only supplies you with the answers to teh odd-numbered questions.

Why is algebra important?
ANSWER:
algebra is important because its the same everywhere. Its universal. But it is also important becasue it helps you be more eligible for jobs, you are able to take courses that will help you determine your future, you are more likley to make wise desicions when investing, and you are able to understand amny ideas discussed in buisnesses. Also, you will have to apply algebra in almost every career path you choose! (evidence: Miss Hogans poster)

Answer:
You would find the definiton of slope in chapter 6.

Answer: In each lesson you will find boxes that say Quiz Yourself. The anwsers to thses questions will be found at the end of each lesson. You will find the anwsers to the Guided Examples in the back of the book in the "Student Handbook" section.

caroline- i am writing in response to #4. I too agree that reading slowly and reading each word and symbol carefully is the most important reading skill. That is how i often lose points.
Rachel I agree that algebra is very important. Algebra really is universal.

Look at the solutions to the examples in each lesson as a guide for your own writing.
